Peter Van Dusen is a well-established artist, one who has made a significant mark in the contemporary art world. Van Dusenís career as a painter began in 1980 when he and his wife moved to Arizona. Prior to his move west, Van Dusen had been a scientist and scientific illustrator. Raised in upstate New York, he holds a Ph.D. in geography and was the chairman of the Water Resources and Environmental Studies Department at the University of Michigan.
Van Dusenís transition from hard science to art was not easy, but one that was filled with many challenges and rewards. Although Van Dusen had not received any formal art education, he used his natural talent and did a lot of reading, researching and experimenting which gave him the background he felt necessary to becoming a master painter.
